Quick Start Guide

Welcome to Pindrop. It helps you plan employee listening, run or bring in the surveys, understand the results, and present them in the organisation's own PowerPoint template. Accounts are set up for you; there is no self-serve sign-up.

Signing in

Go to your Pindrop address and click Sign in. Your administrator will have given you one of these roles:

  • Admin: everything, including users and workspace settings
  • Designer: questionnaires, surveys, listening strategies and analysis
  • Client Reviewer: reviews the questionnaires and results shared with them
  • Participant: answers the surveys sent to them

If two-factor authentication is on for your account, you will be asked for a code after your password.

Finding your way around

Home is the first link in the sidebar. If you work with several organisations, it lists every client, most urgent first: where each one is, what is urgent and the next step, with a Continue card for what you were last working on. If you are in-house, Home is your organisation's Overview. Consultants also have Clients, the full list of organisations; in-house users usually do not.

Choose a client and the sidebar shows its main areas, each with tabs along the top:

  • Overview: a timeline of the organisation's projects, with today marked and each stage shown as done, in progress or not started. Below it are what is urgent, the latest insights and your next steps. The organisation's settings menu next to its name (Client settings or Organisation settings) holds Edit, Branding, PowerPoint master and Delete.
  • Surveys: Surveys and Questionnaires
  • Results: Results, Presentations, Reports and Dashboards. Add results brings in another tool's export, or responses into a survey.
  • Actions: Action plans, Workshops and You said we did

Quieter links below hold Plan (Context, Listening strategies, Roadmaps) and People (Directory, Structure). All pages at the foot lists every page, grouped as Plan, Listen, Understand, Act and Organisation.

A small red number appears only where something needs attention. Hover over a link for its quieter status.

Breadcrumbs at the top of every page show where you are, from client to area to tab to page.

The frameworks, benchmarks and survey templates are in the Workspace menu in the top bar, as its own section at the top, followed by the workspace settings. Your personal settings are in the account menu at the top right, under your name.

On a phone, tap the menu icon to open the sidebar; on a desktop you can collapse it with the toggle beside the name.

Your first steps

  1. Set up the organisation. Add it under Clients and fill in its context: sponsor, current survey provider, constraints, earlier surveys, its own terms, and employment and privacy details.
  2. Plan the year's listening. A listening strategy sets out who you will hear from, what you need to understand, and when leaders will hear the results.
  3. Decide who runs each survey. Run it in Pindrop, or let the organisation's current provider run it and import the results afterwards.
  4. Analyse and present. Open the results under Results, then build a presentation in the organisation's PowerPoint template. Pindrop checks the numbers on every slide against the analysis; wait for that check to pass before you send it.
  5. Close the loop. Agree actions in an action plan, with a date to review progress. A workshop is a good place to start one.
