Benchmark Sets

Benchmark sets let you compare your survey results against external reference data — industry norms, sector averages, or custom standards.

What Is a Benchmark Set?

A benchmark set is a collection of reference scores for specific survey items. When attached to a survey, benchmark bars appear in the analysis and report views alongside your actual scores, showing how your organisation compares.

Viewing Benchmark Sets

Go to Benchmark Sets in the main navigation. Each set is shown as a card with:

  • Dataset name and source
  • Number of items covered
  • Last updated date

Click a set to open its detail view and inspect the individual item scores.

Creating a Benchmark Set

  1. Click New Benchmark Set on the list page
  2. Give the set a name (e.g. "Financial Services Industry Norm 2025")
  3. Import benchmark data via CSV — map your column headers to the item identifier and score fields
  4. Save the set

Once saved, the benchmark set is available to attach to any survey.

Attaching a Benchmark Set to a Survey

Open a survey and go to its Settings tab. Under the Benchmarks section, select the set you want to use. Analysis charts and the survey report will then display benchmark comparison bars automatically.

Tips

  • Benchmark sets are shared across your workspace — any team member can attach them to a survey
  • You can maintain multiple sets for different industries or time periods
  • Item matching uses the item identifier, so ensure your questionnaire items use consistent IDs
